Abia North: Orji Kalu is an excellent performer, his victory’ll be landslide — Campaign Organization

The Orji Uzor Kalu Campaign Organization has said that the Chief Whip of the Senate will win the 2023 Abia North Senatorial election with a landslide.

The campaign organization based their optimism on the excellent performance of Kalu at the Red Chamber in the last three and half years and his capacity to deliver more if re-elected in 2023.

Spokesman of the campaign organization, Sunny Idika in a chat with newsmen in Umuahia, declared that Kalu is the man to beat in the senatorial poll, saying, “Kalu is going to win, even landslide as he did in 2019. The voters in Abia North are going to re-elect him overwhelmingly even better than they did in 2019.”

“This is unprecedented from a Senator in less than four years at the national assembly. Don’t forget that he has sponsored over 50 bills and 30 motions within this short period. Only a trailblazer like Kalu can do it. His victory at the poll is going to be a landslide because our people are not going to reciprocate his good works” he added.

Mao Ohuabunwa behind insecurity in Ohafia — Nkemdirim

Chief Ijioma Okoro Nkemdirim, says a former Senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Mao Ohuabunwa was behind the insecurity in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State.

Nkemdirim, a community leader from Arochukwu alleged that Ohuabunwa was importing hoodlums from Rivers State and neighbouring clans to destabilise the peace in Ohafia and by extension Arochukwu Local Government Area.

He stated this on Thursday morning in a chat with journalists in Umuahia, noting that Rivers State style of politics won’t work in Abia North Senatorial District.
He also accused Ohuabunwa’s thugs of unleashing mayhem across Abia North Senatorial District, warning him not to set the state on fire in his desperation to return to the Senate in 2023.

“We have it in good authority that Mao Ohuabunwa is importing hoodlums, criminals and drug addicts into Ohafia to cause unrest and blame it on those opposing his ambition.

“Those hoodlums he imported are busy destroying posters of his opponents in Ohafia and its environs.

They destroyed billboards of High Chief Ikechi Emenike of APC , Dr Oreh Okuji of APGA, Sen Orji Uzor Kalu of APC and so many others at Old Soldier junction, Amaekpu, Ebem and Elu Ohafia.

“Ohuabunwa also tried to deceive the electorates using the insecurity in Isikwuato. Since that one failed, he is now importing thugs into Ohafia, Arochukwu and other parts of Abia North.

“The leaders of Ohafia should call Ohuabunwa to order. I’m even shocked that these Ohafia leaders are yet to openly condemn the actions of Ohuabunwa. Are they waiting for him to set Ohafia on fire before they act?,” he stated.

According to residents in the community who spoke to our correspondent, those arrested include: George Onwumere Uloh, Chikodiri Ukwu, and Jacob Ndubuisi.

A community leader who pleaded not to be named accused a former Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Mao Ohuabunwa of sponsoring the thugs to intimidate and harass opposition members in the community.

The source said: “Those arrested today are known thugs of Mao Ohuabunwa. These guys were unleashed to intimidate those opposing his senatorial ambition. He went as far as using them to intimidate Nzuko Aro women during their programs in August.

“It is sad how Mao is trying to destroy Arochukwu because of his desperation to return to Abuja in 2023. We want peace in Arochukwu; some people are already accusing him of being behind the insecurity in Ohafia and its environs.

Politics shouldn’t be so, because if you kill everyone, who are you going to Abuja to represent?,” he stated.

BREAKING: Court Adjourns Hearing On APC Guber Candidacy In Abia.

A Federal High Court sitting in Umuahia, has adjourned the case of Uche Ogah vs Ikechi Emenike to the 12th of October, 2022 for ruling on the motion by a governoship aspirant, Daniel Eke.

Ikechi Emenike and Dr. Uche Ogah who emerged from parallel primaries have respectively laid claims to the ticket.

Eke had approached the court to seek nullification of the primaries which he said did not comply with the party directives, INEC guidelines, and the new Electoral Act.

During a hearing at the High Court, the plaintiff’s lawyer, Obinna Nkume who dismissed “the purported primaries as a charade and a sham”, urged the court to quash them.

” My client is saying that the APC governorship primaries in Abia were not conducted in line with the party guidelines, so everything they did was invalid.”

He argued that both “Emenike who claimed he emerged through indirect primaries and Ogah claiming to have been produced via direct primary, “cannot sustain their claims”.

The plaintiff’s lawyer argued that whereas the APC had directed for a direct primary for Abia, Emenike “purportedly emerged through an indirect primary in clear violation of the directive; while Ogah’s purported primary was not supervised by the party’s electoral committee.

The Electoral Act is clear: if you opt for a direct primary, you do a direct primary. The party opted for a direct primary for Abia but the committee did an indirect primary where Emenike claims to have emerged.

“For Ogah, the position of the Electoral Act is that if the party’s electoral committee does not participate in your primary even if INEC supervises it, such a primary is a sham.”

But counsel to APC urged the court to dismiss the suit arguing that the plaintiff is not a registered member of the party in his Igbere Ward.

“He further argued that the plaintiff had by his own written evidence, admitted that he did not participate in the primaries, hence, he had no locus to challenge the outcome of the exercise

Chief Emenike’s lawyer, H. O Afolabi, SAN, allied himself with the submissions and arguments canvassed by APC’s lawyer, adding that the plaintiff must first prove that he participated in the primaries before challenging the outcome.

Ogah who sought to be joined in the suit through his Counsel, Oliver Amuzie, urged the court to void only the result of the indirect primary that “purportedly produced the 2nd defendant (Emenike), arguing that it was in clear violation of the party directives.

Ogah’s lawyer further urged the court to disregard the argument that the plaintiff had no locus in the matter based on non-participation whereas his name was on the result sheet.

Ogah’s lawyer, however, said his client’s candidacy should be affirmed haven emerged from a direct mode of primary as directed by the party leadership and supervised by INEC.

Meanwhile, INEC counsel, D. I Amadi, said that the commission was not an interested party in the matter, but urged that the suit be dismissed in its entirety.

After listening to the arguments of all the parties, the presiding Judge, Justice Evelyn Anyadike, reserved judgment for Friday, October 7.

Meanwhile, Emenike’s name was shortlisted in the final governorship list published Tuesday by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Later in an interview, Chief Eke who was present at the court expressed satisfaction with the proceedings so far.

He also expressed optimism that he would get justice, vowing to fight illegality and impunity in the party.

Eke said he was in the court to challenge injustice, arguing that parties should not be allowed to collect money from aspirants through the sale of forms and fail to conduct fair primaries for them.

AN OPEN LETTER TO MR. PETER OBI, Posted on September 25, 2022.

AN OPEN LETTER TO MR. PETER OBI
Posted on September 25, 2022

Greetings, Mr. Peter Obi. I am writing you this letter with the utmost sincerity, and I urge you to accept it in good faith and address the issues raised herein. As a passionate Nigerian who is dissatisfied and angry, I have come to address you as one of those who stole our future and, rather than apologizing, you continue to lie, blackmail, and deceive innocent people in order to manipulate the future of the younger generations.

It’s disturbing to hear from you that you are one of those who will solve Nigeria’s problems, when in reality, you are no different from the buccaneers and bandits who have over the years buried us beneath the soil of bad governance, corruption, criminality, pretense and deceit.
It smacks of hypocrisy and delusion to present yourself as a messiah when you’re the devil’s advocate and a ring leader of oppression in our political arrangements.

First, I have taken the time to listen to many of your speeches in forums where you discuss your desire for due process and the rule of law if you are elected President of Nigeria. Because the mind is limited and quick to forget, I should remind you that when you were the Governor of Anambra State eight (8) years ago, you brazenly disregarded the rule of law and committed so many atrocities that if you truly believed in the rule of law, you would have been imprisoned for your crimes.
Let me remind you that, as Governor, you destroyed the Upper Class Hotel at Onitsha, which was owned by an innocent man, whose only offense was not being a member of your political party. He was then falsely accused and arrested for rituals and the possession of human body parts that were planted in his hotel. Sir, you gave orders for his hotel to be demolished in less than 24 hours and for its owner, Chief Bonaventure Mokwe, to be detained and tortured by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) without a Court order or any form of fair hearing. Even when it was clear that Chief Mokwe was innocent, you took away his source of livelihood and inheritance and violated his and his workers’ human rights; to this day, you have not apologized to him and have instead used money to delay the court case he initiated. terrible.

Perhaps I should remind you of your illegal use of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Awkuzu, Anambra State, when you were Governor and gave orders to kill, maim, and use innocent people for human barbecue.

We all remember the Ezu and Omambala River massacres that you ordered when you gave outright orders to shoot at the sight of innocent Igbo youths, which was carried out by your man Friday, CSP James Nwafor; to this day, the memory still hurts the families of the over 500 young people murdered in cold blood without any kind of trials or fair hearings, but man-slaughter because you had the executive seal of office.

It was under your watch that SARS became so notorious and turned the Awkuzu station into a depot for human parts transactions with CSP James Nwafor, your special security adviser and accomplice.

Sir, when in 2020 the young people of Nigeria protested for SARS to be banned nationwide and their activities over the years probed, you approached the court to obtain an order restricting the panel set up to investigate offenders with you inclusive, and you ensured that you were not investigated through multiple court orders because you knew your way to the courtroom to procure court orders, which you never did when you ordered for the illegal detention of Bonaventure Mokwe and staffers, nor when you ordered for the massacre of over five hundred Igbo youths and accused them of being Biafra agitators.
As Governor of Anambra State, you prohibited peaceful protests by Biafran separatists and instead designated MASSOB as a criminal gang, ensuring that they never carried out lawful actions in the state.

With all due respect and acknowledgement, you lack the justification to preach the rule of law because you violated many laws while Governor and never submitted to trials. You will not have the audacity to speak about upholding the rule of law in places where the rule of law works because you represent the oppressors.

Sir, I’ve also heard you talk about inclusive governance and transparency if elected president. It has become evident that you enjoy playing with the emotions and sensibilities of the vulnerable and little-informed. How can you promise something you don’t have and something opposite to your trait? Maybe I should remind you again that, as Governor, you rejected local government elections for the eight (8) years you were in power and instead used sole administrators, head of services, and transition committees as local government chairmen. For the same eight (8) years, sir, you did not give a proper account of how much the local government allocations were and what they were used for. In the same eight (8) years, you failed to make public the budgets of Anambra State and, till date, there are no records of how much Anambra had in budgets under your administration. It’s hypocrisy to tell us about transparency if you become President when you failed to be transparent as Governor.
On the same topic of transparency, sir, it remains a mystery how you became rich and wealthy in dollars because you have refused to disclose to the public your life trajectory while continuing to avoid answering the question of how you made your money. Your parents, like most of our parents, were common traders in Onitsha, Anambra State, with no other investments aside from the kiosk at Ose Okwodu. But you became a billionaire out of nowhere and have never explained how. Sir, you should not be the one discussing transparency in government or anywhere else.
You’ve been implicated in drug cartels numerous times, along with your eternal friend Benjamin Ubah, an ex-convict in the United States of America for drug offenses. Not only him, but your brother, Damian Obi, has been barred from entering the United States for the same drug-related offense. We have other names for those who are your allies and childhood friends. It’s on good record that a certain Gregory Obi was involved in this drug syndicate, which was you, but you quickly dropped the name Gregory from your documents and replaced it with Peter and Onwubuasi to alter your identity till date. Sir, if you are indeed sincere and transparent enough, kindly let the world know the source of your wealth and the over $50 million you have saved in offshore accounts as exposed by the Pandora papers.

Sir, it is unfortunate that you have chosen to represent yourself through false claims and identity while representing everything evil, criminal, and bad in leadership and oppression. You recklessly use your gift of poetry and philosophical knowledge to sway the vulnerable and gullible. Obviously, not the kind of leader Nigeria and Nigerians yearn for in 2023.

Sir, you have spoken eloquently about Nigeria’s transition from consumption to production, which you have stated will be your primary task if elected President. Sir, may I also remind you that, according to the records you provided, you have been a major importer of groceries into Nigeria for the past thirty (30) years, which has greatly contributed to the depreciation of the Naira and the fact that Nigeria has remained a consumer country. Sir, if you had any good intentions for Nigeria as you want us to believe in your many talk shows, why didn’t you in the last 30 years bring investors to set-up production companies for groceries, which is your major, just like Aliko Dangote, Innoson, and other business moguls who have been contributing to the nation’s productivity – do in their area of specialty? Sir, you were Governor for eight years and the Chairman of the South East Governors Forum as well. We did not see your reign in either capacity attract much productivity in Anambra State or any of the South East states, but at the same time, you feel very comfortable telling us that you will move Nigeria from consumption to production. It is terrible that, as a Christian, you derive joy in deceit and manipulating the vulnerable.

Sir, it will be interesting to learn how you, the son of a petty trader, became a billionaire in dollars, founded NEST International, where you are still Chairman, and controlled many shares in Fidelity Bank, propelling you to become its youngest Chairman. Believe me, there are millions of young Nigerians who are intelligent, resourceful, and purpose-driven just like you, and who would love to hear your story and emulate your success. Don’t be the leader who can’t explain to their followers how they became great and hope to raise more great people from their following pool.
It absolutely reeks of hypocrisy that you have been going around talking about how to fix Nigeria, but your track record shows that you are only interested in your own success and not the success of others. Sir, how can you, as a former Governor and Chairman of a bank and a multinational corporation, not have people you mentored following you around? We know people in your cadre who still have those who worked with them while they were governors, but in your case, none of your commissioners have been heard of or seen in your team or around. Perhaps, after Peter Obi, there will not be another person who represents the values you claim. That is not a good leadership example.

Sir, please allow me to assert here that you are one of the major oppressors of Nigeria’s younger generation, and you continue to steal from us with great gusto. How do you save Nigeria when you symbolize our nation’s bane and impediments? You are a very corrupt, predatory, undemocratic, religiously extreme and fanatical Catholic who preferred and only recommended Catholics for appointed or elective positions as Governor. You’re a maniacal liar who represents everything oppressive.

Sir, you have yet to clear the air on the public story that you offered your man Friday, Mr. Victor Umeh, who was then National Chairman of the APGA but has since reunited with you in the Labour Party, a whopping sum of 600 million naira to disqualify Charles Soludo in 2013 because you dislike him and believe that him being your direct successor will expose the criminality in your administration. Sir, we also have on record how you used public properties to settle your personal friends and families, the chief amongst them being the concession of ANIDS vehicles procured with State Government funds to Benjamin Uba for personal ownership, which he has since renamed Ben-flo. Sir, it’s also on record how you diverted state resources and invested same into NEST International, owned by you, without the approval of the State Assembly or State Executives, and the two hundred and fifty million naira that was recovered from your special aide, Valentine Obienyem, by the Nigerian police en route Lagos State with your official vehicles, and you subsequently denied and abandoned the innocent Anambra taxpayers’ money to the police just to avoid being indicted.

Among the many promises you have made to innocent and vulnerable Nigerians who are emotionally nodding in agreement as a result of Muhammadu Buhari’s disastrous and clownish administration, which has plunged Nigeria, divided us along ethnic lines, and impoverished everyone, is that you will unify the country. Sir, Mondays in the South East have been under lock and key for over two years now, yet as a stakeholder vying for the country’s number one position and coming from the South East, where you served as Governor and Chairman of the South East Governors Forum, you have not been able to offer the best solution to halt the sit-at-home that has severely harmed the economic activities of that part of the country. How will you unite the country if you become President, when you can’t even solve a minor problem in your own backyard?
Sir, once again, you are more evil and fantastically corrupt than most politicians in the country because you have evolved into a warbler who continues to feed on the larder of the poor and vulnerable while devising a way to avoid having boils on your lips.

Sir, if you claim to have any integrity left in you, I would advise you to come out and confess your evil to the young Nigerians you have been deceiving all along, and to withdraw from the Presidential race because you do not deserve to be in the position you currently occupy through deception and blackmail.
While we have organized to ensure that 2023 goes smoothly and that we elect leaders who will serve us and our best interests rather than themselves and their cronies, it is critical that we seek out those who actually live out their beliefs, rather than settling for a predator like you, Sir.

Sir, I challenge you to tell the public the source of your wealth; how you made the billions you own and have saved in offshore accounts; and how you became a top shareholder in Fidelity Bank in your 30’s despite coming from a very poor family background. If you can conveniently explain this; I will be the very first to lead your campaign selflessly, but failure to do so tells a convincing story that you’re not what we seek in 2023 and possibly more corrupt than others.

As I’ve always said, you’ve done your best and lied your way out a lot, but the deception will no longer be tolerated. Come to your senses and take a bow. You are more corrupt and oppressive than people see.
Uloka Chukwubuikem writes from Awka, Anambra State.

2023: You’re Supporting A Fulani Man Who Deleted Post Condemning The Gruesome Murder Of A Christian Student — Group Hits Ohuabunwa

A socio-political group under the aegis of Abia North Peace Foundation (ANPF) has condemned a former Senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Mao Ohuabunwa’s desperation and irresponsible politicking ahead of the 2023 general election.

The group while reacting to a statement by Ohuabunwa criticising Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s support for the former governor of Lagos State and presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said: “Supporting a Southern presidential candidate in Bola Ahmed Tinubu is better than supporting a Fulani man who deleted his Tweet and post condemning the gruesome murder of a Christian student in Sokoto all because of power.”

The Director General of the group, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu in a statement on Tuesday morning cautioned Ohuabunwa not to set the state ablaze in his desperation to return to Abuja.

The group also accused Ohuabunwa of playing with the emotions and integrity of the people of Abia North senatorial district by overheating the polity using religion and insecurity as a tool instead of showcasing his achievements during the twelve years he spent at the national assembly.

“Instead of Ohuabunwa to apologise to the masses for wasting twelve precious years with nothing to show for it, he is here promoting hate, insecurity and division across the senatorial district.

“Ohuabunwa is condemning Kalu for supporting a Southerner, yet he is supporting a Fulani man to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari — a Fulani man whose ambivalence on religion is known, as demonstrated in the late Deborah’s imbroglio in Sokoto, which is still fresh in the mind of every Christian.

“Ohuabunwa’s statement laced with childish innuendos should be disregarded by the all — let him continue to trend on his monumental failures; especially his infamous frying pan sharing empowerment.

“Ohuabunwa has nothing to offer. He told everyone that he has no regret sharing frying pans and that he would do it again. Obviously, being Governor Wike’s Personal Assistant, he is trying to impress him by being on the media to get more money for a futile senatorial bid. We rather urge him to concentrate on his job as Governor Nyesom Wike’s Personal Assistant as there is no vacancy in Abia North senatorial district.”

Investigation: How Mao Ohuabunwa Awarded Multi-Million Naira Constituency Projects To His Brother’s Company Without Executing Them

In this investigation, WarriReporters uncovers how a former Senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Mao Ohuabunwa, used his brother’s company — Masta Services Ltd to secure contracts for his constituency projects, and failed to deliver the projects to specifications.

Between 1999 and 2007, Ohuabunwa represented Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Abia North senatorial district from 2015-2019. Records have shown that constituency projects in Abia North Senatorial district by different ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of the federal government were awarded to Masta Engineering Services, a company owned by Senator Ohuabunwa’s immediate family. But he also ensured that the projects were awarded to his brother’s company, in total disregard for the procurement law.

One of the projects awarded to the company was Ndi Ebe Abam Bridge that over N40 million was paid by Anambra Imo River Basin Development Authority. Residents from the company told our correspondent that the company abandoned the project afterwards and carted away the construction materials under the watch of Senator Mao Ohuabunwa.

Another project abandoned under Ohuabunwa is the Ozu Abam – Ndi Okereke Arochukwu road awarded to his younger brother’s company, Masta Services Ltd which money was paid for but the project was abandoned.

Kalu Ndukwe, an indigene of Abam, in Arochukwu Local Government Area of Abia State told our correspondent that Senator Mao Ohuabunwa failed the Constituency when he represented them at the National Assembly.

“Arochukwu Local Government Area where Mao Ohuabunwa comes from has the worst roads in Abia State, yet he was at the National Assembly for twelve years. Most of the projects he attracted were abandoned like the Ozu Abam-Ndi Okereke Arochukwu road and Ndi Ebe Abam bridge. Today our people are suffering because of Mao Ohuabunwa’s failure,” he said.

Our correspondent reports that Senator Mao Ohuabunwa is the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Abia North senatorial district in the 2023 general election. It was alleged that he emerged under controversial circumstances.

The constituency projects concept officially known as the Zonal Intervention Projects (ZIPs), was introduced in 2000 to federal lawmakers – senators and members of the House of Representatives – the opportunity of nominating projects considered to be of paramount importance to their constituents.

As of 2019, an estimated N2 trillion has been budgeted for the ZIPs since inception in 2000, according to the ICPC.

The commission said each of the ZIP projects tracked in the second phase of CEPTI, for instance, cost N100 million and above.

But despite the huge yearly allocations, the ICPC said, citizens continue to lament “shoddy completion, non-completion or outright non-existence of these projects in their locale”.

In some instances of violations captured in the report of the second phase of CEPTI, lawmakers allegedly “manipulatively awarded” contracts for the execution of some constituency projects nominated by them to companies in which they, their family members or associates had “substantial interest directly or indirectly”.

When confronted with our findings, a staff of Anambra Imo River Basin Development who preferred not to be named said that constituency projects domiciled in the agency are within the purview of the sponsoring legislator and not the executing agency.

“MDAs have no control over it [constituency project] apart from execution, according to the way it was put in the budget. It is not our project, it is a constituency project executed by our agency and handed over to the sponsor.”

Senator Ohuabunwa did not respond to multiple phone calls for comment.

Abia North Leaders Of Thought Hail Sen. Orji Kalu, Rep Nkole Over Ongoing Arochukwu/Ohafia Road Project.

Leaders of Abia North senatorial district comprising of traditional rulers, town union presidents and political stakeholders have commended Rep Uko Nkole of Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency and Senator representing Abia North senatorial district, Orji Uzor Kalu over the ongoing construction of Arochukwu/Ohafia federal road project.

The leaders of thought while commending Rep Nkole for attracting the project, expressed their happiness in the synergy between Nkole and Kalu in persuading the federal government to complete the project.

The leaders pointed out that Nkole and Kalu always sought their opinion in whatever they do with a view to identifying any challenges and seeking soutions to them.

ESV Olekanma, leader of the group in a statement on Saturday morning warned desperate politicians to desist from claiming the project, noting that “Uko Nkole facilitated the project and with the support of Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, it is becoming a reality”.

They pledged their total and unwavering support and that of the people to Senator Kalu and Rep Nkole, in all of their future endeavours.

“We have noted with dismay, the antics and desperation of a certain politician from Arochukwu Local Government Area lying to the unsuspecting public that he facilitated the ongoing construction of Arochukwu/Ohafia federal road project.

All we can say is that it is a lie from the pit of hell. How can a man who spent 12 years at the national assembly with zero project except distribution of frying pans to women now have the temerity to claim that he facilitated the Arochukwu/Ohafia road? This is definitely a joke taken too far!

“For the avoidance of doubts, we the leaders of thought from Abia North senatorial district are urging the general public to disregard and reject his antics.

Rep Uko Nkole and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu are the real heroes of Arochukwu/Ohafia road project. Those thinking that they can go to Abuja playing politics with human lives and propaganda would be rejected by the people of Abia North senatorial district,” the statement said.
